On this page you’ll find all the things I write down from my life around two wheels, ranging from training to events and even some interviews. I try to keep the words to a minimum and photos to a maximum. Sometimes I manage that, sometimes not. Hope you find at least a few shots and stories you like.
Cheers!
It’s almost a year since last update. I’ve been browsing through my old posts and realized that I need to keep on writing. If not for someone else, but for myself. Reading your past has a value, unwritten words can’t be read.
Simo Klimscheffskij memorial race took place on Sunday 28.4.2019. Picture galleries from the race are found in this post. Please contact me if you want to use any of the pictures on social media or on the web.
TS Kortteliajot is usually seen as the road cycling racing season opener in Finland. This year the race was ridden in +22 degrees and sunshine. Below pictures from the race. As always, if you want to use some of the pics, please contact me before doing that.
We’ve seen some interesting racing this year, but the real season is just about to begin. The classics will bring the big monuments such as Paris-Roubaix and Tour of Flanders, the nerve-wracking cobbled sections when cyclists fight for being at the front, taking on the legendary short but yet so steep climbs. This is where it all begins.
Having put 2018 behind, it’s time to start talking about what 2019 has to offer. As some of you might know, one of my goals in cycling has been to do a stage race in Europe. And it’s more close than ever now!
To finally put 2018 behind I’ll do the final wrap-up for 2018 in this post. I’ll go ahead and continue with the pictures and end this post with some stats and graphs from 2018.
2018 is out the window and it’s time to wrap up 2018. I’ll do that in two parts, and this my friends, is part 1. Plenty of pictures yet again, hope you enjoy it!
It's actually great writing this seldom. Well I kind of feel bad about it, but also thinking about my last post in the beginning of February, summing up January feels like ages ago. Back then, even spring seemed far away, and now we've already put behind the midsummer celebrations.
So we've let go of January, one of the darkest months for a road cyclist in Finland. You need to get back on track with training after the Christmas-break. The lack of sunlight does not make it any easier.
So yet another year has passed, and it's time to reflect on the kilometers and hours spent in the saddle. As 2016 was the worst cycling-wise, I was looking for a year to get back on track.
Triathlon has become very popular around the world, and this event in Turku has also attracted some serious professionals to the start line. This is something not many sports can pull off, gather both amateurs and professionals to the same race, competing at the same time.
Well that went fast. Spring 2017 just happened, and we're already knocking on July. Having the opportunity to enjoy a rest-day on the balcony, I decided it would be a good way to spend a couple of hours, writing down my thoughts about the past couple of months. There are tons of pictures, again.
Despite the fact that 2016 was the worst cycling-wise, it still was an important year. I graduated finally, years late, but graduated. It was also the first summer having a car, which meant day-trips to places on nice sunny days. I promised I wouldn't go into any details, instead I will share some pictures from along the year.
November 9, 2015, that's the date when I last posted something here. I actually took time and read that article, and realized how lost I was. And it seems my writing about it was just a way to get it out and continue on that same path.
Inhale. The cranks turn, pedals absorb the power, finally transmitting it to the wheels, turning them with an almost silent hum. A few gentle clicks and the rear derailleur smoothly moves the chain further on the cassette. Exhale. I grab the handlebars tight and pull myself out of the saddle. I feel the bike respond to my every action. Acceleration is smooth, yet effective. Every move has been exercised so many times, there is almost no energy lost to the thought. Inhale. I gasp for more air.
